"I have two daughters who worked with Carla for three years throughout high school. The positive impact she had on both my girls relationship with math was amazing. Not only did she help them succeed in math, she also offered encouragement, wisdom, perspective and a safe environment to learn and grow as students and humans! Both my daughters developed a relationship based on trust and would say they got through math with Carla’s support and positive learning attitude. 😊 Carla is one of the best investments we made in our daughters education. We are so grateful!" - Catherine

Math that actually makes sense
Many students arrive convinced they're just 'not a math person.' Carla's job is to find and cultivate their strengths. With over 30 years of combined teaching and professional tutoring experience, she knows that math challenges and test anxiety are real — and she knows how to fix them. Her approach starts with building genuine confidence, then connecting the material to each student's natural way of thinking. She customizes every session to the individual, focusing on:
- Building confidence and dissolving anxiety
- Finding and encouraging students natural strengths
- Connecting concepts to natural abilities so the math makes sense
- Understanding the real-world applications of what they're learning
- Learning how to check and correct their own work
- Speaking the language of mathematics — in plain English
Tutoring Options: Private and Partner Sessions
Private tutoring is one-on-one, focused entirely on your student's needs, pace, and learning style. Partner tutoring pairs two students together — a great option for friends or classmates working through the same material with the same teacher, and is a more affordable way to get personalized help.
"Carla Neely is an exceptional tutor and mentor to students. She has a serious dedication to academics and helping people; she has a gift for explaining and teaching tough concepts, she has a wonderful sense of humor and ability to connect with students, and her time teaching our son for 2 years in high school geometry and algebra II brought his math grades up from a D to all A's and B's. I asked my 18 year-old son what he likes about Carla, and he answered: "She understands teenagers, knows how to speak our language so we can understand things, and she's not just a good teacher but a good friend."" - Beatrice

About Carla Neely, Math Tutor
Including her classroom experience, Carla has been a professional educator for over 30 years. She has spent that time teaching, tutoring, and nurturing students - and she still loves every minute of it. She holds a B.A. in Mathematics and spent six years as a high school math teacher before dedicating herself full-time to private tutoring. For 25 years, she has helped students across Bozeman build the skills and confidence they need to succeed in math — from middle school algebra all the way through college-level coursework. In 2011, she was recognized as a Distinguished Educator by the Bozeman Schools Foundation. Her approach blends warmth, patience, and deep expertise in making complex concepts accessible — helping students see math not just as a subject, but as a skill for life.
"Carla is quite possibly the sole reason I liked math during high school. She is patient, kind, and always took the time to explain things in a way that was personalized towards me. She provided me with so many resources beyond what the school gave me, and having her in your corner means that you will enjoy math at least a little bit, because she has that effect. She deeply cares about each person that walks through her doors and makes an effort to connect with them. Carla is amazing, and I could not recommend her more. More than that, Carla is one of the kindest people you will come across in your life, and I feel incredibly lucky that she also happened to be the best tutor and teacher I’ve ever had. Carla is truly a gift to Bozeman." - Ella (a student)
